This policy brief lays out the German position for Germany’s international partners and provides a policy framework for decision-makers in German Development Cooperation. The first part discusses the rationale for a gender-sensitive, gender-transformative global response to HIV, describes the relevant international initiatives and resolutions and outlines the political commitment of the German Government. The second part discusses the priority areas of action that constitute Germany’s policy framework. |

Campaign “Fair Play” |
|
“Let’s do it together! Fair play” project is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in partnership with the State Service for Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the State Service of Ukraine on HIV/AIDS and Other Socially Dangerous Diseases. The project is an important part of the German-Ukrainian co-operation within the framework of 2012 European football event. “Fair play” project is financed by the German Government particularly by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The organizers promote healthy and responsible behavior among youth through the conduction of unusual and interesting trainings on the basis of fair play concept. The project seeks to reach up thousands of girls and boys in the age of 10-20 all over Ukraine. The football trainings are free of charge. Schools and other educational and sports establishments where the trainings take place will be provided with sport equipment. Children will get the necessary outfit. The trainings for trainers began in autumn 2011 and the project itself will last until the end of 2012. |

Germany’s Contribution to Sustainable HIV Control |
|
In 2001 the international community committed itself to attain the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 6 to effectively and sustainably respond to HIV and AIDS, Malaria and other diseases. The present document illustrates in which priority areas and through which measures Germany currently contributes to the global response to HIV and how it will do so in the coming years. The main pillars of the German contribution to the global HIV response are the realisation of human rights, including , e.g., a particular attention to disadvantaged groups and the promotion of the participation of civil society; effective HIV prevention and health system strengthening including integrated services with the aim of universal access to prevention, testing and therapy. |
