The Join In Circuit Goes Global
New Methods of AIDS-Prevention

Know your epidemic – know your response
HIV Prevention in German Development Cooperation

The paper on HIV-prevention presents the focus areas of German Development Cooperation in supporting its partners. It outlines the seven strategic starting points of cooperation to effectively tackle the challenges which go hand in hand with the epidemic.

Regional HIV/AIDS Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean
Current Projects: Integrated health systems in rural areas in Uruguay 2010-2012

The document describes the integration of Uruguay’s HIV/AIDS response into its national health system by using a triangulation approach: Horizontal knowledge transfer from Brazil regarding integrated health care networks is combined with knowledge of local contexts and needs from Uruguay and experience in facilitating, and the monitoring and evaluation of international cooperation processes (GIZ, Germany). The paper demonstrates that the approach of triangulation represents a cost-effective, sustainable and an extremely flexible tool which can be easily adapted and transferred.

Regional HIV/AIDS Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean
Current Projects: Men’s Health

Due to several factors, men’s life expectancy in Latin America is 7 years less than women’s. Capacity building workshops aim at the development of locally adapted solutions in the participating countries to decrease the impact of the gender-specific risk factors.
